I go my 6-bolt motor out of a junkyard not knowing anything about, I did a bsek and the oil pan gasket that is it. I got the car running and did a compression test and it came up to 90 in number 4 and 60 in all of the rest. I put oil in the cylinders and it went right up so I assumed it was the rings. I put oil in the cylinders and ran the car hard for about 3 minutes 3 times in a row then I did it with 80-90 gear oil. After running the car hard up and down the street until the oil was out of the exhaust and the cylindrs I gave it a test which gave me 150 all across. has anyone done this or tell me what happened here or will this last long, my friend said it was called washing the cylinders, seen it done before at his job.

I wouldnt call that washing the cylinders its more like marking them and scuffing the pistons with 90 wt oil. You could have had some carbon on the rings that hardened from stittling and caused the rings to stick and not seal well?? I have never heard of anyone doing that what you desribed.
