Whats is the correct supply voltage and signal voltage for the cam sensor on a 95 Tsi FWD manual. Mine read 0.24 DCV set at 20 on the read wire. Then i got 0.01 for the signal wire. What does this mean?

This is measuring on the engine wiring harness side.

have you checked continuity between one end of the wire, and the other? are you getting NO fire at all?

My 1 & 4 cylinders refuse to fire. When i checked my crank sensor it put out about 6v for the signal and about 12-13 for the constant.

But the cam is only putting out .2v for the constant. Than i get nothing for the signal. Is this a bad ground?

Both sensors have been replaced with no effect.

you can check the grounds.. it wont hurt.. what about the ignition control module? has that been checked?

no.. not the ecu.. .the ignition control module.. its bolted to the left side of the intake manifold, by the coil packs, if i remember correctly.. its just a lil black box with some wires running to it

Oh the power transistor. Yeah i have. I have a spare that im going to go test to see if it even works. But even the spare did not change the problem.

you have a spare that you ARE GOING TO TEST, but you already know it didnt change the problem? LOL.. im confused

Did you replace the coil pack? have you checked that there is spark at those plugs outside of the cylinders? if the coild pack is bad, it would cause that.. there is only 1 coil per 2 cylinders, and its a wasted spark system, which means that 2 cylinders will always spark at the same time, if im not mistaken

I don't know if my spare is any good. I know the chances are slim that it would have the exact same problem but you never know.

I do know when i put it on that it did not change the problem.

oh.. ok. yo comprendo.. LOL

but yeah... about that coil pack thing from above? check that out, because if one coil is bad, 2 cylinders wont fire

You can swap around the wires from the coils and the problem will just persist on the other coil. Its acting like its not receiving the signal to fire.

Thats when i noticed the voltage going to the cam sensor didnt seem right but i don't know if it is or isnt.

hmmmm.. im sure what else there is.. LOL.. and you have tried the other ECU? checked ground? checked continuity in the wires? it has to be something random... im at a loss.. LOL.. seems like we have checked pretty much all of it..

Anyone else here got any ideas?

Im pretty sure its a short in the wiring. Just need to know where. The car originally jumped time. had the head redone blah blah. Now it only fires on two cylinders.

yeah.. i gotta say, that when the head was removed, a wire go jerked loose or something.. get a DSM manual with a schematic, and start tracing wires.. LOL.. thats the only way
