cylinder head question

is a head that was removed off a 6 bolt work correctly on a 7 bolt. i know this sounds like a noob question, im just making sure, i know they are virtually the same motor. ive got a head off a 1g and a 2g block. im about to get them machined and idd like to be sure before i pay for it to get worked.

Yes a 1g/6 bolt head will bolt to a 2g/7 bolt block.

There are a few differences. The intake runner cross section is larger on the 1g head, so you will need a 1g intake.

The 2g head, some years, use a cam sensor behind the intake cam gear, the 1g head will not have the bolt hole boss for this.

You better bet would be to reverse that combination, run a 2g head withe the 6 bolt bottom end if your keeping stock or close to that internals.
One of the really fast dsm guys said, for the most usable power 2g head for the most hp on the dyno 1g head.

I cant find a 6 bolt block anywhere near me. This 7 bolt is what came with the car. and i dont have the money to buy one and pay for shipping then have to send it to the machine shop for wok.
