I am building a 1g 6 bolt engine. i came acroos a cyclone intake mani for free. i was wondering if its worth it to port it to match my ported head and install it or f it and sell it? thank guys

The manifold needs to be setup to switch over at a specified RPM, so youll need some way to control it. Also if you dont have the white vacuum canister that goes with it you can get them from mitsu. The Montero used them in one of the years.

does anyone know of a GOOD thread that will give me details on how to properly set it up so it will work properly and how much hp when ported do you estimate i can get?

i am also very curious how much horsepower it will make. does anybody know?

Not to be a prick, but this topic has been beaten more then the jackson 5. I don't think its worth the trouble to get one to truly work, because you gotta have something to activate the runners. First off your gonna wanna use the search feature, located at the top of the website. 2nd off, your gonna find that the 1g usdm intake manifold flows more top end. Try this, http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/search.php?searchid=5548366. Like I said before, if your only gonna port it to make it flow more, just use a 1gusdm. The only advantage to the cyclone is the runners that get activated for lower end torque. This doesnt work for us because it was a "JDM" thing, and we have nothing to control it, unless we make something too which like I said isnt worth the time or effort IMHO. I would also like to say that I am against porting a 1g head, because I have seen more hurt then help outta them because they never get flowbenched. Plus I have also seen 1g heads make over 450 hp+ with cams, which to me tells me they flow pretty damn good stock. I hope this helps,

Ryan

^You don't need DSMLink or a Keydrivers chip to make it work...all you need is a Dodge Dakota vacuum canister an a Summit Racing RPM switch.

The Cyclone really does help out with elongating the torque curve, but top end does suffer slightly. Depending on the goals of your car, this could be both good and bad.

FWIW I ran a properly hooked up cyclone with my BB 50-trim and got over 400rpm of spool sooner than my Magnus SMIM.

I know a guy here locally that rigs them up to work off a T25 actuator. From what he said its not that hard to do.

i dont really suggest to run the cyclone. i run it in my galant vr4 and i didnt like it,, at high rpms didnt want to give me more power. i was running an fp green at 25 psi, since i went back to the us intake it felt better at higher rpms>>>i use a keydiver chip to control the runners, if you want to spend time and some extra cash just to see the difference like me go head and do it but i dont recommend it take my advise
