I pulled the CV_Joint and what I get is what is pictured in Green and Yellow.

Can anyone tell me how to seperate the inner shaft from the cv-joint?

I have beat on it with a hammer but no go. There must be a trick.

The inner shaft and the axle are linked by a CV cup and boot. Cut the large band on the boot and fold it back. Wala the axle will fall apart.

If I followed ya on what you were saying that should do it. Else be a bit more discriptive.

The CV spider that holds the roller bearings is held on with a cir-clip pop it off and the spider will come off by hand. The axle cup does not come off afaik.

The inner shaft (the intermedate shaft) is fastened to the CV cup on the axle by a c-clip on the inner shaft splines. You hold the inner shaft with the axle hanging down while hitting the cup with a hammer and rotating the whole thing and the two will come apart.

Interesting, I didn't bother to pull the cup off when I replaced the CV boot but I did have to pull the spider to get the small and of the boot on the axle shaft.

I tried hitting the cup while the center bearing was still bolted to the motor. (Probably not good for that bearing so I didn't use a big hammer:nono: ) I will try again after I pull it off. I'm getting good at pulling it. 2 Motor swaps in a year and pulled it to replace the cv-joint last weekend and none of the parts places could help me get it apart:mad: . So I put it back together so I could drive to work. I'll pull it again Friday night and see what happens.
