Ok heres the scenario:

I have a 94 talon tsi fwd.My cv joints are blown out and I went to replace them with some cv axles I had picked up from autozone. Long story short, the 94 axles that I tried from both auto zone and advanced auto measure 26 mm on the shaft to the trans. The ones that are in my car measure 28 mm. Needless to say they are not working. I dont understand how 94 axles will not fit this trans.

Can anyone shed some light on this.PLEASE

Thats what We thought too, however, that means that both autozone and advanced auto would have had to make the same mistake, Could be , but highly doubt it ya know?

anyone have any ideas

Im in the same boat as you, i have a 90 but with a 94 trans and all the parts stores ive went to gave me the small ones to. I've turned to scavaging junk yards with no luck.If you find a place that has them please please post where you got them!

Advance auto parts and Autozone always get things wrong when I'm ordering parts for a dsm. It's like they're using the same computers. I started getting my stuff from NAPA.

i just had to get my clutch done today and need a cv axle the ppl at autozone tried to give me the wrong one there is a differnce between turbo and n/a cv as well ,they looked up n/a fwd and i needed a turbo awd app. also differnce between awd and fwd. there is many differnt apps for these cars take the old one in and make then start pulling cv shafts off the shelf for dsm's and matching them.

Napa has been good most of the time for me. I do lots of different car repairs and doing C/V's are one of my favorite money makers. Can do hondas in 15min a side LOL. The incedence of the wrong parts from any distributor/vendor is always a problem that drives me nuts. There are certain counter people I will not use for example. Tres.....

Woah guys let me give you the scoop, Both auto zone and advance auto get their axles from the same place CCT, you do not want these axles I used to work there and they would consistently get them wrong especially for any DSM DO NOT BUY THEM. I know many shops that only buy the ones from NAPA because they are always right. Get the A1 cardone axles and they will come in right because they make them new and its not much more expensive than the remans. A junk yard is the cheapest way to go but if you can find them get it from NAPA, not bashing Auto Zone or Advance because its the suppliers fault.
