Hey,

I have an evo 8 fmic with outlets on both side. I read about cutting the elbow off the t25 so it can be a better fit. What I'm wondering is, what can I do to prevent shavings and whatnot from entering inside the turbo? I'm going to attempt to cut it with a dremel while the turbo is still connected to the motor. Advice is appreiciated.

Man you gut nuts !!!...never done it before i would suggest cutting a sponge or foam "like bed foam" to the diameter of the section your cutting off make it into a cylinder shape shove it in there and go to work don't use a rag you will more than likely get shaving and before you pull the sponge out maybe take a magnet to try and pick up shaving hell maybe some clay of some sort to get the rest i know very Mcguyver but just a suggestion godd luck my son !!!

If I were you I would take the turbo if your really going to attempt this. I wouldn't want to chance getting shavings in the compressor housing.

yea just shove a sock or couple paper towels in the opening, then vacuum off before you pull the cloth out.

If the snap ring gap is reachable, you can slip some snap ring pliers in, squeeze it, remove the ring, and take the compressor housing off. Be very careful when doing this, as the snap ring has a LOT of pressure and if the plier tips break or slip, it could possibly injure you. But of course, you drive a DSM, so you know that just about any modification you do to your car will most likely make you bleed. :) Once the compressor housing is off, do whatever you want to it; cut, port, polish, etc. I recommend vacuuming, then washing the housing when you're done playing with it, though. Heck, put it in a hot tank for a while to really get it clean if you want.

For the Evo8 intercooler, you may want to have the elbow welded facing the other way once you get it cut off. It should clear everything and be facing the right way for the intercooler pipes to go. If not, you'll have to get a 90* coupler (expensive) or custom bent pipes.
