my friend has a 92 talon ESi which he cut the springs down to half a coil...
now i know this isnt the best alternative, but would it be safe to do to lower my car until i get acctual lowering springs. im not going to go as drastic as what he did but maybe just and inch. so any information on cutting the springs, drawbacks, how tos, ect. would be greatly appreciated

Your springs would be really short and really soft - not a good combination for handling or ride quality.

Hello? Spring rate is *increased* when a spring is cut. If you cut stock springs to get the same amount of lowering as a ProKit, for example, they'd have higher rates than ProKits, especially in the rear.

just wait to get real lowering springs. Don't be ghetto and do me a favor slap your buddy as hard as you can, really..... You'll really regret it after you cut them :thumb:

Good point, my bad. I was under the impression that that's what happened, which was why it was bad. Then why exactly is it bad?

your gonna be bouncin around like a strippers ass in a strip club.don't cut the springs.your gonna handle like shit, besides,im' sure that the engineers at mitsubishi motors studied hard to see a good spring rate ride/handling for the normal folk that drive these cars and would't apreciate your friend saying, dude just cut the springs.and like my 95tsi said just slap your friend as hardas you canLOL(joke)peace.buy some brand name springs too, don't go cheapo ebay unless it's brand name,at least you can bi*** at somebody if their defective.
