Cutout in a muffler

So I was reading about a year ago of somebody on here who had found a company (in Europe I think) who was making a muffler that had an integrated cutout INSIDE it. By muffler I mean an actual muffler (no noise). If I remember correctly he was a wiseman and the product costed like ~$300.

I tried to find his thread but no luck. Im considering this more and more now. Does anybody know the thread or the part itself?

An electric cut out will cost you just as much and you can run it in the downpipe(less restriction then going all the way to the muffler).
The best idea is to run a 3" downpipe with an E-cut out and mate a stock cat-back to the system. This way when you want to be loud you will be loud and make gobs of power doing it. (At least opposed to the stock exhaust)

The only potentially bad thing of doing this is your creating a "bottle neck" restriction in the exhaust system so maybe a stock downpipe would be best, but still should yield positive results.

Hmm, just looked and saw you have a turbo back. In that case, look at the apexi active silencer. Very cool, but havent listened to sound clips or seen dyno results yet to see if its worth it.

Thanks, yeah I thought of doing what you suggested but I thought there would be less cutting and welding if I bought that special muffler. Also, it would cost even more since now I have to go and buy a stock catback.

Never heard of the active silencer, Ill check it out.

Sweet! Thats what I was looking for. So I guess I didnt read this a year ago. haha

I just started researching the Apexi silencer and it looks promising as well.

No problem, I remember reading it too. I'm going to be putting a regular electric cutout on my test pipe soon.
