AC cutout

I did some reading on dsmchips and saw that some of the chips cutout the AC, does this increase HP?

Can it be done by pulling the AC fuse?

Yes you can pull the fuse and it will have the same effect. Pulling the fuse will no longer turn on the compressor clutch which will not run the ac compressor at all. The best bet would be to remove the belt. That way you get less drag on the engine. IF you want to keep the AC though then pull the fuse. That or don't switch it on. Remember, when you have your car in defrost mode your ac is running. If you are low on freon or refrigerant your compressor will not run either. hope that helped

Oh and it really wont give you much more horsepower but it will have less drag on the engine which you will feel faster.

so you're saying, turning off the AC and defroster is the same a pulling the fuse.

in other words, when the AC is off, there is no power lost

Correct! you got it! No power will be lost with it off but you will still have that excess drag on the engine (which isn't much at all) unless you remove the belt. It really won't be worth the time though because I doubt you will notice a difference.

Oh and just to clarify its the window and dash defrost, not the rear window hatch defrost.

I think what he's saying is...when the AC is off, yes it's the same as pulling the fuse. No horsepower is added when it's off-just none taken away. Pulling out the AC entirely will...rid your car of a little wieght, and less stress and drag on the motor.
