Looks near impossible to use that particular pod with a clutch pedal.

I made some 'custom' pods like that for some cheap tweeters in my Honda almost 10 years ago. Neither the pods, nor the speakers lasted very long with the constant accidental kicking and moisture of Michigan seasons.

In my opinion, the factory 2G speaker locations are placed perfectly and offer more than enough sound for anyone unless you're competing.

Those are kick panel speakers. Crutchfield used to sell them for our cars back in the days if I remember correctly. Made for people with music in mind not speed. To my knowledge though the speakers that are in are way bigger then they should be. I think they were made for like 5inch mids and didnt have that huge speaker grill on it.

Theoretically the kick panels provide better sound quality of a speaker mounted in almost any other position in the car. The thing is that they have to be done by a person who knows what he is doing. They require a lot of positioning and the hardest part is the volume that the speaker requires.

There are some cars that have kick panels as default speaker location. I think some BMW or Mercedes Benz's.

Perhaps the guy who installed this is an SQ fan or participates in some sound quality contests.

They're intended to be used with a component set - you can even see where there's a spot for a small tweeter. They made them for 5.25" and 6.5" mid's. The grills come with the speakers, and you'd be crazy not to use them.

They only look big simply because there's not much space down there. That's why our cars didn't come with them mounted there, but some big-body cars did.

That car is actually for sale on craigslist in the Bay Area. AT plus a weird positioned speaker is just not right IMO. Just my 2 cents.

Now if you mounted subs under your seats, that would be interesting LOL, but I dunno if that would have enough airspace if it actually fit.

No thanks, doesn't look to conferable to drive.

I agree. Plus it looks like it would be a pain to get in and out of the car and not kicking it or something. Plus like someone said before watch out for water. If the car was a show car then it would be cool I guess. (show car meaning true show car that never see's the road)
