If I had a setup with a TiAL 38mm wastegate off of the exhaust manifold and had a pipe welded on to the downpipe with a flange at the other end to link to the wastegate, how thick would the piping need to be? How much would this procedure cost?

Not just any shop will do the work for you and good luck calling around to find one, its performance turbo shop or bust. I was trying to stay away from the big name shops around here trying to stick with an exhaust shop and came up empty handed. I walked into a performance shop down here and they wanted $280 just to make an open dump, not even recirc it back to the exhaust. Street Tune Motorsports is up there isn't it, I wouldn't even waste the time and just call them and get a quote from them since they know what they're doing.

Are you talking about the thickness of the metal or the size of the dump? Any SS pipe thats 38mm in diameter will work.

:dsm:

*EDIT* Nevermind, STM is 6 hours down the street from you...

I also wanted to know if anybody makes these pipes...That's really unfortunate that nobody makes one...

It you're in that situation it'd be easier to just make a dump tube it you can find your ways to get by smog emissions when the time comes or you could use a Tial 38mm blow-off flange and use a recirculation o2 housing.

They would really charge that much just to weld a flange, make a plasma cut, bend a steel pipe and make another small weld?
I know I'm making it sound easy but thats all it takes +a few calculations.

It's not going to be cheap. It's not the easy. It'll take some TIG welder to make the dump tube to ensure it won't crack. All in all custom fabrication take a decent of labor and time.
