I will be making my own, headers and exhaust the entire deal. But i need tubing for it..

various sizes etc. I've found some motor cycle pipes have the taper and expansion chamber of the approximate sizes i desire. But those are in use by my friend =P so i can't take em. untill he replaces them. It starts at about 1 1/4 inch from the head and about 5inches at its end. I was gonna cut the taper into the 5inch section so as to have a 2 inch expanding to 3 or more inches off the headers of the 420a head. back into a 4 into 1 deal. following a 3inch pipe out the back.

I just haven't found a place i can walk in and buy what i need. And internet sites i've seen that are local dont have the sizes or shapes i need.

My brother has an arc welder. So i may ned some rods to weld aluminum as well.

Aluminim is the metal i would like to use. it's lighter..

You can't make your exhaust headers out of aluminum. The melting point is to low. I also don't think you are going to arc weld aluminum with good results. That's better suited for a tig.

good pointers =)

I've seen some stainless pipes.. isnt the stock piece iron or something.. i sswear its a hefty chuck of metal.. well worth removeing just for the weight..

If it is iron, i would have to make the headers steel. most likely i'll be able to find some steel ones layng around.. or hopefully a dsm with headers still on the engine in the parts yard.. then i could use them for more reliable parts.. the plate that bolts to the head.. the pipe connecting to an expansion chamber..4x5inch pipes - in the end i want to be pushing 12+ rpm so this would be a good thing. - back to two 3-in pipes out the back or sides i haven't decided yet.. more worried bout the headers idea working with the space i have to work with.. easy if i move the fans to the other side of the radiator.

Aluminum is no good for headers but iv seen it used successfully after the headers / dump pipe.

cool..i'll have to look for some stainless-steel alloy stuff.. definately not experienced enough to weld aluminum.. i've burned through it repeatedly like you said xc

by the time i see it's melting...it's burned a hole.. tho this powder forged crap seems to burn up much easier.. so it could just be the grade of aluminum i'm using too...
