Can I use flex tubing for exhaust?

I have an issue with my exhaust, it is 2.5" turboback all the way to the gastank, then goes to stock diamiter and then goes back to 2.5" just before the muffler. Previous owner had this done, as I woulda got 3".

Since I see tractor trailers and other big trucks using flex tubing in their exhaust path would I be able to aswell?, It would just fill in the stock section of pipe around/under the tank.

It would only be temporary but since Im getting my car dynoed on friday I want a full 2.5" tuboback.

yea dude, you kinda answered your own question but to be totally clear, my buddy used a flex pipe on his 240sx ka24et turbo setup up for more than a year no problems.

usually most cars need some bit of flex in the exhaust so that when the motor flexes, it doesn't create problems.

I think that he is thinking of the flex tube that is usually pretty small in diameter, I use it for my o2 dump and apparently it works fine as the owner before me had it when he use to run 11's...


but that was for o2 dump, i would not suggest doing it for exhaust unless you are talking about like the RRE flex pipe... usually people put that right after the downpipe so you don't put pressure on yor turbo... which can cause cracking of your o2 housing, even your turbo/exhaust manifold.

if you are just going to use it for the dyno why not just drop it all after the down pipe? otherwise yes it will work, its not perfectly smooth tho. and yea the crap works, but it rusts very quickly. my dads truck had a tail pipe made out of flex pipe. one day i come home from work and he says 'what the hell'd you do?'. it ripped off and was dragging along and i had no idea.
