Hey, awhile back I gutted my car because I was desperate for the quick free gains. Well times have changed but unfortunately my carpet is gone!

I went to home depot to buy some lexan and came across their carpet selections. Is it possible to customize your carpet? It doesn't look that hard just carve it right and make holes for the bolts.

Also, I noticed the 99 have black dashes. I'm thinking about painting mine that color also. To someone with experience what paint would you recommend I use? Any prep work needed?

I would go to a craft store and buy some vinyl dye. As far as the carpet I would cut it to shape, lay it out, then take a hobby knife and make an "x" over the studs where the bolts go.

It's simple it's easy, thanks bro. Would you recommend taking OUT the dash when dying it?

I would take the dash out if you dont want overspray everywhere. The dupont trim paint is awesome... just get some total prep from the auto store... its in a blue aerosol can and it should be next to the bondo and stuff.. spray that on kinda heavy let it sit for 3 or 4 minutes and wipe it down, it's important you dont let it dry on there... go over the whole thing with a damp towel to get all the residue off since the paint wont bond with it... dry it down really well with a lint free towel and then go over it with a light aggressive scuff pad that youll find right next to the total prep at the parts store. Go over it lightly with that and go back over everything with a slightly damp towel to get all the dust and everything off, dry it again and your ready to paint. 3 or 4 light coats will do the trick. It's really not easy to make this stuff drip but it will if you try to cover the old color on the first coat. I scratched a piece to see if this stuff could be spot painted and it blends really well with itself and you cant see the scratch after at all because it self levels so well. as for the carpet, carpet is my profession and if you think youre going to be able to make it sit right in there it wont. OEM carpet is pre molded thats why it sits so flat in there. Even if you get a roll of carpet for your house, if you dont stretch it over the tackless it will still have the roll prints in it for at least half a year.

I bought carpet for my trunk from this company and had a good experience with them. they send you samples and you can pick which one. Its kind of pricey but not that bad, and alot cheaper then the dealer ship. I dont know if this is an option for you but theres the link anyway

I want to replace my carpet because it's just old and gross. Anyhow, I looked into a few of these after market carpet places. Especially since I wanted to get black carpet instead of the stock grey color. Be advised that most of the carpets they sell are only for the FWD Eclipse/Talons. The AWD versions have different floor pans and the FWD carpet will not fit. That's what I was told by 3 different carpet places I called. So I guess I'm stuck with Mitsu OEM.
