I have an automatic and I bet I would rip you a new one.

...anyways...

You CAN get a carbon fiber dash, www.carbonwerks.com. That is the "theboogieman's" site on here, or Leo as most of us would know.

That is a crazy amount of money to ask for for that stuff. I know it takes alot of time and hand work, but to pay upwards of 7 and 1/2 for a dash cover, then the airbag cover for another 1 1/2, you're talking close to 1g right there, someone has either alot of extra money(in that case - I accept donations) or is completely a carbon fiberaholic

I do have to say thouhg - damn they are nice!

But those pods are awesome the way they dip and contour the guages. Me likey! I can't wait to see it installed. :) I eventually will get up to that area again sometime and see Kurt and some of the other DSM crew so i might run into ya'...hope the car is together.
Leo

Thanks!

Yeah I was hoping to have it together by now.... I'm kinda in a waiting stage with the dash and other parts right now until my friend gets some free time to be able to spray it for me since I don't have a paint gun or big enough compressor to run one. The only parts I don't have completely finished and waiting on paint are the door panels but I will definatly have it done soon. I'm thinking about going to the Ocean City show and definatly going to HIN in Philly so if you go to either of those I'll probably see you there. Otherwise let me know if your coming into the area for a dsm meet or something and we could meet up.

Damn..that'd be nice if I had that kind of money to spend on my interior. But i think I'll take that $800 and put it under the hood.

;) ...and I honestly couldn't blame you for doing so. I am into performance first as well, but my mod money ran out, credit cards quit coming and the wife and I had a baby. So now if I can't "make it" then I am not allowed to get it...for awhile at least. Gotta' love the wife. :p

True, it is alot of money for some...I can't argue that. As I said before, if i wasn't so lucky to be making the parts i probally wouldn't be able to splurge on any except and armrest or something small. I felt the same way when I bought my Bomex kit!!! Lot of money for just fiberglass. But they created the parts and I wanted it so I payed.
But it is not just a matter of the time and hard work. Labor is rough and hard I admit and alot of sanding and polishing comes to play, but materials is what is exspensive and drives the cost of production up.
For instance, the dash cover I make is made with 2 layers of carbon fiber. This totals close to 13 1/2 feet for JUST THE CARBON!! Doesn't seem like it would take that much BUT IT DOES. Depending on where you look that can be costly for close to 14 feet of carbon (they always round up to the nearest yard). Then factor in the resins and gel coats. And i am not using resins from Home Depot. :) So materials alone can be costly....the rest is labor though. Heck, remember whn carbon fiber hoods were upwards of 6-700 at one time. Now you can get them all day long for 3 bills or so.
I hear ya' though, it can be costly to attain c/f for the ride.

Oh yeh I understood what you were meaning, no worries. :) I hope I didn't come off wrong, I was just saying there is alot tied up in materials. Thanks for the "kudos" also.
