What a world of difference between primered and what you started with. I can't wait to see the final product.

i love working with fiberglass just for this. Everyone is all OMG that looks like (*%$ till they see the primer. Then its holy jeeeeezus that thing looks good man!

5 stars:thumb: i have some pics of my center console that i drop in for carshows somewheres on this computer...

This thread has become the ONLY reason that I have to log into DSMTuners anymore. I can't wait to see this guy's finished product.

With that said- any updates? -Any recent pictures? Anything at all? It has been a looong time. I hope the car is still okay after all of this time. :p

I'll be looking forward to a detailed response!

Cheers.

No kidding. I've been looking at the pictures and quite a bit of that looks heavy... really heavy but then again it could just be me.

Are you sure? How do you know?

I mean I've seen some heavy stuff in the pics that the car doesn't have originally.

That's looking gooood! Can't wait to see it in the car. I wish I had time to do something like that. It takes me weeks to finish tiny projects.

Have you ever even worked with fiberglass and bondo?WTF That thing probably weighs close to twice as much as the stock dash did. You have to remember, it's OVER what was already there, meaning it has twice the material if not more....

Ohh yeah, I have. Once, I laid 16 layers of glass in a 50' cigarette boat mold. I also made a custom dash for a 54' Wellcraft, the same boat from Miami Vice out of fiberglass.

So yeah, I have a bit of experience. I haven't ever dealt with anything extremely heavy at all.

nice project. I just scanned through, mainly looking at the pics. Interesting to watch the process. So many have no idea how much work a glass'd dash can be. Looks like it'll be impressive when it's finished.

The inward effect will help that gauge fit in more seamlessly. I'd go for that option just because it would look very stylish.

Well, well, well.. . Where to start.

Okay, so as you can see I've not had the chance to update or finsih the dash thus far. I've recently been promoted to a pretty stressful position and I'm in the process of starting my own company with some other business partners, along with finishing up my bachelor's as a full time student. I am literally working on one of 3 projects (work, school, company) 7 days a week. I get 5-6 hours of sleep per night and haven't had a wholesome meal since Thanksgiving. So this dash hasn't had any TLC for some time. LOL. OK enough of the whining like a little bi***.

Anyways, I've reached a crossroad in what is next for this dash. I can certainly finish it, but to install it I would need time off from work and school since I wouldn't be able to drive the car for atleast a week. I've never installed a dash, not saying I can't do it, but if complications occur, I can't afford to stretch out the install or modify the dash so it fits. I just don't have time my boss wouldn't allow the time off and I couldn't drop school projects for it.

So at this point I have 3 options. None of which I am sure of...

1) Hold off on finishing it until summer of 09' when I get a nice 2 month break from everything.
2) Sell it and start a new one in the summer. (not like I can't make another)
3) Finish it and install it.

Yeah. I know option 3 sounds the best, and it does, but I am telling you guys right now I don't have the time available to finish AND install it ANYTIME soon. It truly sucks, but life is just too hectic right now.

As my buddy and I were looking at it for the first time in a few months yesterday, I really don't know if selling it would be an option for me, unless it was for an amount I truly felt was worth it (ATLEAST $600). Hell we couldn't and wouldn't believe we were even discussing the option of selling it. I just don't know if I can part with it, because I still feel very very happy with it. I have to live in FL for a few months this summer, and we were thinking that maybe I'll just have to put it in storage with my car until I return home. Then I get the 2 months off, in which I could finally finish it, etc.. Still a whiles away though ..

So, glad to hear everyone hasn't given up on it/me yet! I'm torn between what I need/want/can do at this point. What would you guys do? Any opinions?

P.S- I am buying myself the fabric for this and my door panels this christmas, so if any of you know where to find halfway strecthable tan suede (timberland boot color) please PM me. I've had a dozen samples the past week but none seem to fit just yet..

What would you guys do? I need help! :sosad:

This was actually the same thing that I was faced with not too long after we finished my center console. I ended up keeping it and I drop it in for the occasional carshow and people go NUTS! We actually painted mine with an imron black paint and it's held up better than I could have ever hoped.

I vote just keep it and wait. You've put SO much time and effort into it and I promise you will be very satisfied once you actually get it in your car. Best of luck!

Summer '09 is almost here! I can't wait until this project is done. Again, I show up to this forum every few months just to see if this has any progress.

As always, good luck with this! I really can't wait to see it. :)

just had a funny thought.... imagine if it did fit for some reason.....
