Curious..NO FMIC and more alcohol? doable on a DD car?

My 84 200SX Turbo had no intercooler, and was still healthy at 170K when the rest of the car essentially wore out. But it also ran about four PSI, not the 12~20 common on DSMs.

I think new ideas are terrific. I've been a water injection fan for twenty years, and it was a new idea.... in the thirties. I applaud your interest, but you are not going to be able to pull enough heat out of the compressed air by introducing a fluid (of which, water would be pulling out the most) into the intake stream before having enough to bring on hydraulic locking, never mind what those kind of quantities are going to be doing to cylinder and valve stem lubrication.

But it would delight me to no end to be proven wrong. I only ask that regardless which way it winds up, you come back and give us a full accounting of the research.

You raise some very good points. Myself, i am not thinking it's going to be the next best thing since buttered bread. I'm just trying to see if it's plausible enough for a DD to run this way to aid in cooling when the A/C is on in the hot summer months. And still have at least comprable IAT temps under boost.

I was just out tuning w/ FMIC and no alcohol at the 10 and 15psi ranges trying to get all the detonation dialed out. (what a pain that's starting to be LOL )

But i did pull some logs with FMIC and alcohol to see teh IAT differences. I'll be sure to post all results truthfully and to the best description of circumstances at the time ( i.e. weather and so forth)

I'm about to start a new thread on somehting that happened today. I was actually tuned to 11- 11.3:1 through my entire pull on pump gas with very little to no timing being pulled. Then when running on alcohol i was a lot richer and started to detonate again. That has me scratching my head. LIke i said before i don't have hardly any experience with alky so it's a learning curve wither way.

How about this - Waterinjection :: View topic - Injecting prior to turbo comp' impellers

Injection PRE turbo. Im sure it has been brought up before, but it seems to be right up your alley.

Run no intercooler as it seems to be a disadvantage to this setup.

The only disadvantage I see may be that it shortens the length of the life of your turbo. How much, I really couldnt tell you.

Lots of info, but good info in that thread. I was reading it and thinking of this thread!

EDIT - well first, get that other tranny :p

Yea, that's a good read for sure. I'm not going to go pre-turbo with it for several reasons, i'm just going to have nozzles going directly from the turbo outlet all the way to the TB elbow. I'm either going to run 2 or 3 for maximum evaporation for cooling, and then having the one close to the TB to try adn get as much in teh cylinders as i can to up the octane effect.

My new trans whould be here ina few hours, once it's in and i break it in, the tests will be back on. First i'm doing the "how far can i push it on meth + pump gas" then i'm doing this test of no FMIC on a daily driver

results will come, just with more time than originally planned
