Hello. 95 GSX. The yellow light only comes on when I hold the button. I'm able to set cruise and it works. When I release the on button, it turns off. I've tried pulling up on the clutch pedal. That's not it. Anybody have any ideas?

Actually after looking at the wiring diagrams I now think the problem is not the brake switch but instead a faulty Auto-Cruise Control Main Switch. It has a small relay in it which is supposed to keep it set on after the button is "pressed and released" and I suspect it's probably not working properly anymore. And when you hold the button on, it would make cruise work as long as you hold the button (even with a faulty relay).

I had this problem with my car when I first bought it, cruise would only work if I held it on. My problem turned out to be vacuum, the booster that holds the throttle cable was cracked from someone using it to support themself while looking back in to the engine bay & bent the bracket & cracked plastic cruise control booster housing. Super glue worked to stop the leak but the underhood temps would make the super glue fail & lasted only a couple months at a time. I eventual found a replacement & since have had no issues.

i could probably go with replacing all vac lines. it honestly should be done anyways. the thing has been sitting for ten years. Thanks guys. I'll do some work and report back.

I just kinda wanted to update this thread as I JUST got to working on this situation.

The rubber stoppers/plugs on all of the pedal switches were gone. I replaced every single one. I don't believe that was the original problem a year ago but it's a problem now.

I had a "moment" and pushed the on button repeatedly and it suddenly stuck on. Later I realized if I half pressed the button carefully I could get it to come on. I think there's a spring or plunger inside the switch that's worn out. Can't get the switch open to find out. I don't want to break it more.

I thought I had found a Dodge dealer that had one. I knew it was too good to be true. They refunded the order and said it was on the site in error. I'll probably have to get a used one but I didn't want to. I've been reading how these switches frequently went bad.
