OEM half shafts will be perfect for this set up. I didn't see much about them, so I thought I'd throw it in. :thumb:

Mirage2LTurbo, we got the 2g intake mani port matched to the 2g head (since the head ports were enlarged).

Mirage2LTurbo, where are you getting this information from??? I dont think nuggets or I ever said anything about dss axles.

Man... I thought midwest school systems were better than this...

ok, we are simply going to disregaurd the comments from the other, far inferior, wisconsin based user. Much can be said, not worth my time.

We get the machine work done at Extreme Speed, around 3rd and Drexel in Oak Creek

And yes, obviously this will be no monster, compared to Shep. After all we are not heavily sponsored, nor do we have engineering degrees, nor are we on a mission to surpass the fastest AWD dsm in the world. Our intentions are not to max out this engine. Besides, there are PLENTY of other dsms on this site with wayyyy more done to them, why are we all the sudden in question of being on the same level as a professional drag racer?

(shouldnt let the "less-knowlegable" get to me)

LOL. the schools further away from the farms and pastures seem to be fine. Watertown is kinda hickville.. so the intelligence level is being shown right there. :p no offense to any farmers out there.

When you name the thread "Creating a Monster" people are going to expect big things. This should have been named "Building a Mild Street Car" or something. Most people that look at this thread were probably expecting to see someone throwing down 600+ HP, not somebody building an "Average" DSM.

ok, ok, ok, we all know that his injectors are :thumbdown and his clutch  ,but c'mon thats why he is here right? isn't that why we are all here? I know I am. sure, there are ALOT of you here that know your way around a 4g63 but I bet you still ask questions. I can almost put money down that that there is not one of you out there that would like to build YOUR interpretation of a "monster". maybe he just got excited when he originaly named this thread. how are they going to do it the right way if the select few choose to bash him?

Mild street setup? I am pretty positive this setup will be capable of 600 easily; however, we may never push it that far. People have been able to achieve that goal on stock internals, but that is beyond the point.
Nuggets was a little excited when he created the thread about 3 months ago, so I guess the use of the word "monster" isn't the greatest choice but, jesus christ, why are we wasting time discussing the title of the thread. Why am I wasting time even responding to foolish comments like that?

Thank you SpadeGSX for understanding our true intentions.

Any other off-topic criticisms on this thread please PM me.
Thank You

Could you please show me 1 person who has made 600 whp on stock internals.

Once again any off-topic criticisms not relating to our actual project we are doing please PM me with your questions/problems/complaints.

This was not meant to be a criticism. You stated that you know of cars that have made 600hp on stock internals. I have never seen this done and would like to see this. I am sure other people here would as well. If you feel this is off topic could you start a new thread with this info please. As far as being on topic, what is the current status of this build up?

Geez everybody just wants to fight in this thread. did i make a mistake by starting it? maybe....

Anyways... (99redgst) current status is on page 2

To sum it up,

We've spent the past few months doing the research, getting the funds, and getting the machine-work done with. So, we're ready to start assembly as soon as we order all the parts from our Updated list. The list on the first page is what we originally got with the car from the auction.. so we assembled a new list after we did some research like EVERYONE told us to do and now we are about ready.

Hopefully within the next few weeks, we will actually sit down and start putting together the shortblock. My camera broke :( so I personally cant take anymore pictures but I will do my best to photograph the progress.

Now, to take of other buisness, I have been PROMISING pictures for like months but I never got around to actually posting them. So I shall do so right now. Enjoy

These Pictures are from the first... 2 weeks we started. I have updated pics of the block/crank/pistons, just need to get them off someones's comp. they shall be uploaded soon.

Good luck with your project! I just bought a 95 AWD TSi and have started gathering parts for my own "monster" :) I'm going the 2.4L route w/ a 60-1 Turbonetics. Picking up the DOHC 2.4 this weekend and 60-1 any day now so hopefuly I'll have my own project thread soon. Again, good luck and looks good!! :thumb:

hey good luck with your project....um to lazy to read the whole thread but i did read that you are going with a safc or gm maft anyway i would really consider the dsmlink.....i have it and i had a safc and its like fire water difference.....you also gain access to the dsmlink forum which haha alot of fast and well informed tuners reside.......serioulsy look into the dsmlink do it right the first time......

wow just read the rest of the forum....shit guys lighten the hell up mild i dont think so monster it is not ither but still capable of atleast 400 to crank maybe 400 to wheels......that to me is very respectable.....and remember guys haha the biggest challenge for the dsm is reliability the internals might want to be looked at for a "future"prevention... i myself have done everything wrong once but now hahaha things are taking a rise.....good luck with the install if you have any ? pm me im no god......but i do know enough....and for the rest of the people that just criticizes this grow the #### up haha like the 17 year old

sorry for the rant

yes we have been looking into DSMlink alot over the past 2 weeks. but it is a bit costly. we're still looking into our options. we defenitly want to go with something concrete that can be used as a solid tuning program. We'd like to have it gets done right the first time around and not be running into any MAJOR errors.

also gaining access to those forums would be very tight :)

anyways, enjoy the pics. i shall update, or kyguy will, as soon as we make another move ^_^

peace

I can honestly say that dsmlink has been my best mod. Its incredibly powerful and very easy to use.

Nuggets and Ky,

I applaud your positive attitudes throughout the random bashing and flaming in this post. You'll have to excuse some of the guys on here as they let their EGOS get in the way of what this board is supposed to be used for (That's resourceful information for the few that don't know). That being said there is also some very good information in this thread that you MUST consider:

- More $ does not always equal more horsepower, combining the right parts does.
I dont care if you install the mother all turbos, if you cant support it, you don't need it.
- Fuel delivery, and the metering of it is Imperative in these cars.
If you can't tune this car properly, and by properly I mean accounting for everything that you can control using either DSMLink (highly recommended), or SAFC, check that if your using an SAFC to tune your car than your not serious about it and you need to reconsider your goals.
- Research, asking questions, and testing are the only ways YOU will know what works for YOUR car.
Obviously you can see through the people that aren't going to provide you with answers to questions you will have, so look for the ones that will and be sure to absorb as much as you can.

Seeing that you're going to get the car in psuedo-stock form is an excellent decision and great insurance from having many problems to solve, to knowing what is wrong and where the problem lies.

Hopefully this thread can remain productive and informative as I can see it will be of great help to many DSMer's that will inevitably come across some of the same problems you will in the future. Any questions you have don't hesitate to ask I'm sure someone here will have an informative opinion, keeping in mind the final decision is up to you.

So ask away bro, and good luck

Brew :talon:
