Ok so i was curious. Would a vr4 engine from a 3000gt fit into a gsx body? If it would there would be some sweet HP gains but do u guys know about how much it would cost.

I am sure with a few thousand dolars you could fab up something that would work. The v6 in the 3si car is a rather large and wide engine that would take up the whole engine bay, heck there is no real room to work on the engine in the 3si cars.

I don't know how much more the 6G72 engine weighs than the eclipse engine, but I'm sure that if you did get it to fit, the several hundred pounds of added weight in the front would screw up the handling, probably making you understeer pretty bad.

that would be stupid

not because the 6g72 is a worse engine, which it is not in my opinion, but because you would have to somehow magically fit an engine that is way to big for our cars, along with its transmission, AND....

do you have any idea how much more it costs to get the same power out of a 6g73? you have to buy two turbos, the exaust is a lot more complicated, and the intake.....well lets just say not as many 3si users use fmics as dsm users do, FOR A VERY GOOD REASON....

that is one nightmare i know i will never even attempt to partake in without some serious money coming my way....

I wouldn't call it stupid, but i'm right with you on the money issue,Hell I wouldn't even own an 3Si unless i had bank and an expirienced mechanic so he could bust his head with this greatly complicated car.I love these cars, but,I wanna run away from these engines everytime the hoods popped.LOL. maybe a 4g63 in a 3Si,now there's an idea.

Well i to had a similar crazy idea not to long ago. I had owned a 94 nonturbo 300zx which i sold to a friend of mine. Anyway he wrecked it after owning it for only 6 days. So i decided to buy it back from him to attempt to make a RWD DSM with a 300zx engine. Anyway long story short i stripped out my dsm engine bay fab'd up all the engine mounts barely squeezed that S O B in to the engine bay thinking the hardest part was done. Well i have never been more wrong in my life. Anyway when it came time to put in the tranny i realized there was just no way it would be possible to make the steering rack assembly to fit with the tranny. Anyway that project never got done. In the end i wasted more time and money then the car is worth. Anyway just something to think about. Good luck to you if you ever decide to try something like that.
