crazy far fetched idea on lubricating turbo

ok what if i had this turbo and it leaks oil bad and i need to drive my car and cannot afford another turbo. what iff i packed the inside of my turbo with wheel bearing grease and blocked off the oil ports will this lubricate my turbo good enuff or at all? this is just a hypothetical question.

i have read of a way to disconnect the turbo so that you would run as a n/a, but dont remember where i recall reading it. i wouldnt think it would be the smartest idea to pack ur turbo with wheel bearing grease as u dont want anything going to the housing especially oil. so i dont think it would be wise. can anyone else jump in on this conclusion?

The bearings in your turbo are babbit type. Oil is pressurized and fed inbetween the shaft and the bearing surface to make the shaft "float"' in a sense. Packing them with grease won't work.

Your solution: Buy a NT exhaust manifold and downpipe. By that time, you might as well pick up another used 14B for cheap and keep the boost level stock to make it last.

No. The grease will get really hot, and unlike the oil, cannot circulate. I would highly recommend you do not try this. The only suggestion I can give you if you do not want your turbo spooling, is just take off the wastegate actuator. This will let the wastegate just sit there, and will not allow you to boost at all. This should take a lot of stress off the turbo, but I do not know if this will help you.

Are you sure you just dont need new gaskets for the turbo's oil lines , perhaps some o-rings ?? Can you tell where its leaking from ? I dunno just a thought

i replaced seals and installed a complete rebuild kit andits blowin oil worse now from exhaust and intake side of turbo. im just going to disassemble it and take turbo and kit to the turbo shop and have them do it.

your sig says you got a n/t with turbo, shouldnt you have your factory header and downpipe you can put till you wait to get more $$ for a turbo?

well i put a 4g63 turbo engine in my car, its not a n/t with a turbo on it. all i got is the factory turbo manifold.
today i took turbo off blocked the hole off in the side of the exhAUST HOUSING with sheetmetal cut into a circle and clamped it on with that c clamp that joins the 2 turbo halves together. im taking turbo to have it rebuilt tomorrow.
