This is my first post. I fact, I don't even have a dsm yet, but on monday i'm going ot portland to look at and hopefully buy a 98 gsx. I've been looking at lowering it, and have searched the archives, but I haven't found a definate answer... if i get the eibach prokit to lower the car, will I be able to clear speedbumps without have to go over at an angle? i have a 93 mr2 turbo lowered with suspension techniques springs and I just need to slow down for the bumps, I don't mind slowing down but I don't want to go over bumps at an angle. If you guys could give me an answer that would be great. Thanks
 
Prokits don't lower it too much. I have a set of prokits on my 93 and I don't have any trouble clearing speed bumps, and 2g's have a slightly higher ride height than 1g. I remember with my old FD tho I had a 1.5" drop and had to be careful going over gravel LOL.
 
The prokit only lowers the car about an inch. And AWD DSMs are jacked up like a 4x4 anyways. You should be okay. :thumb:

I hope you're not serious.... I have never seen a 2g that rides higher than a 1g when they are both lowered the same. 2g's are known for having low clearance in the front. In fact when they got them at the dealerships new they didn't even have the front air dam on yet because they couldn't get them off of the trucks with them on.

Yes you will probably still have to go at an angle over speed bumps. You don't go at an angle so you will clear but because the suspension doesn't bounce as much when only one wheel at a time goes over.
 
While I haven't had problems going over speedbumps...my catback takes a beating from ditches and other sharp dips in the road....the bend in the back in practically touching the floor. I hate it. Fortunately GSXs have a straighter exhaust piping.

I have prokits and a chin spoiler and I haven't had any issues with speed bumps. Parking lot entrances and exits are another story though.

Ya, those are the real pain in the butt. I hate it when i have to attack steep ones at a like 70 degree angle to try and make it in without scraping haha.
 
at stock height the tip on my Dunk catback drags on my mother-in-law's driveway if I go in straight or at less than a 45 degree angle.

and the bottom of my talon nose looks like I've been street surfing it...


luckily no major scrapes on anything else.


Get used to parking a foot back from the "stoppies" cause even at stock height you won't clear 80% of them, and be carefull of sidewalks and curbs too.
the rear end will clear (at least at stock height) so if space is tight i park backwards.

if you want to use Rhino ramps or other similar ramps you must remove the front bumper cover first for clearance.


After you lower the car, then you really have to be careful. just don't go more than 1 to 1.5 inches and you will be fine.
