Ok, my buddy Kris just picked up a hella good deal on a '90 TSI AWD manual car. He brought it to the shop last night so we can start work on it, but we have to sort out some issues first(like th efender I dented for him... DOH!! I hate ice!!). Anyhow, the biggest thing we noticed was that when the car idles after warmup, it lopes really bad and misses, and keeps trying to die. I didn't get much time to look at it, but I figured I would get some ideas from the guru's here before I get to the shop tonight. It pulls decent after idle, and feels alright. No miss, but not quite what a Talon should be. I'm leaning towards possible faulty plug wires and plugs, any input?

Ok, went through it tonight. Car is stock, and has a pretty much unmolested engine. Not vented. All vacuum lines looked ok, and we double checked all the plugs. The nmber 3 plug did have gas on it, like it wasnt firing enough. We narrowed it down to either a faulty plug wire or faulty Coil. But, there are 2 things that make me curious...

1) Other owner just tuned the car up(new plugs and wires, as well as fuel filter). All the plugs look new, and were gapped a bit to open, but seemed only misfiring on #3. The wires and filter also look like they just came out of the box.

2) If the #3 coil isnt firing, isnt it batch fired? Wouldnt 2 cylinders be dead?
