Hello fellow enthusiasts, I have a 98 GST pretty stock(mods in profile) when I received the car, it had a spun rod bearing #3 I believe. Took the motor out, installed a reman crank from Advance which had matching seald power bearings. New rods re sized for arp's. Had the block align honed & new arp main studs, new gasket kit. Pretty much a real good rebuild, I thought. Also had a XTD clutch installed I think it was a 8 puck disc. Well I began w/ 30w non detergent & within 150 miles I started noticing signs of crankwalk. After 2 CPS I parked her. Also I can remember the ghost pedal @ left turns. I would just like to know what your guys input on what's going on? Why did it walk so damn fast? What bearings is the BEST or rather what you guys use? Would it be worth trying new bearings? Thanks for help

Once a motor walks it will (typically) always walk again so it doesn't matter what bearing you do.
6bolt swap is the fix.
You can try the MBCAD kit as some said it is the "fix" but there is no for sure fix to it. It's sold at machv.com

You can try to find a 99 block as those walked the least.

Like Gamble said, the crank will almost always walk again once it has before. It likely walked before you owned it, which is why it had a spun bearing. However it could also be the new crankshaft so I would check the thrust clearance before using that crank in anything else.

Ok so just to make sure my plan is right:
To check thrust clearance would be the same procedure as checking oil clearance or do I mic the crank then block the thrust bearings?
If the crank checks out just replace the block & bearings as mentioned?
98 & 99's both have split thrust bearings right?
