Cranks,but No start after rebuild

Ok so i completely rebuilt the engine and went to fire it up yesterday,and it just cranks. I have spark,and my fpr gauge went up and showed 40 psi so I know I have fuel pressure. It cranks and cranks,but it seems to crank a little fast so I thought timing. The timing marks are dead on. Any suggestions on what to check? I moved the CAS around and tried starting it in different places,and flipping it 180* I also rewired my maf for the 2g maf,would this cause it not to fire if wired wrong?

After cranking it and inspecting I noticed the timing belt was being shredded on the side closest to the engine. It happened so fast and I now have to pull it all apart and see,but what could it be rubbing on? I put the shorter bolts in the right place on the oil pan.

Please help I am knee deep in this, any suggestion is appreciated Also if someone can help me fix the problem one on one,I will definately paypal some cash for the help.

Your car should start with having the maf wired wrong or having no maf at all but will run poorly. As for you timing belt shredding that could be the reason it's not starting but i don't know what it would be rubbing on. Maybe if you post some pics it would help.. Also check that you have enough voltage, the spark plugs are good, and that the injectors are firing.

Thankyou for the reply...Voltage is good,I havent checked to see if my injectors are firing yet, I will do that here in a bit. Also, I will get pictures of the belt and post them. Im just not sure what went wrong here because i turned it over by hand and nothing was rubbing then. Any other suggestions on what could be wrong? Should I check compression as well?

i would also check the crankshaft position sensor.

1g's do not have a crankshaft postion sensor....
1g's have a Camshaft angle sensor...

A Cam angle sensor has both the crank and cam sensors built into one unit

95-96 2g's have a crankshaft position sensor near the crank pulley and a camshaft postion sensor behind the intake cam gear....

97-99 2g's have a crankshaft position sensor near the crank pulley and a camshaft postion sensor on the passenger side of the head like 1g's....

Guys doing a 6-bolt swap in a 2g often put a 1g CAS on their car and either rewire the car/make a harness/buy a harness to adapt the 1g CAS onto the car...

hey im having the same problem... the cel comes on and gives me code 22. well i think its 22, i am using a LED and it gives me two long flashes then two small ones. It just keeps doing that and never stops, it just keeps repeating itself. so i guess 22? which is the CAS but i put a new one in and still not stating up. my battery might be to old though. when you turn the key to the on position is the battery light supposed to go away?

If the injectors aren't firing, could be the throttle position sensor not seeing the throttle closed. If you don't want to check the injectors for voltage, just pull the sparkplugs and dump a 1/2 ounce of gas in each cylinder, put the plugs back in and see if it starts.
