ok i just did a rebuild on my 1Gb motor and finally got everything together (4 hours) but when i put my key in to start the car it cranks so slow and then after a few tries it wont crank at all. had my starter check at autozone its fine aswell as my battery and all wires are correct so im at a lose here. any idea's? i will post a video soon.

YouTube - ‪Video 080810 001‬‎ heres the video

ill check with a different battery and get back to you. thanks for the pointer

Check the battery voltage while cranking. If it drops below 10v it might be junk.

Make sure that the cable running from the battery to the starter is clean, tight, and corrosion free. Same for the ground cable from the battery to the bolt on the bellhousing right above the starter mounting points and that both the bolt and bellhousing are clean. Might as well make sure the starter bolt and casing are also clean and torqued to spec since they act as the ground for the starter.

battery isnt the problem tried with two different ones and the same thing. could it be my distributor? or could it be compression? i havent checked compression ### my tester was stolen by some mechanics i had work on the car. will be buying a new test tomorrow but i dont think i will get a accurate reading due to engine cranking too slow. thanks guys

IF the battery and starter is good, then either something is binding or locking up. did you ever have anything questionable when you were rebuilding the motor? more info on what other things you did would be helpful in diagnosing your problem.

I had this problem the other day when my battery went did. I hooked it up to cables and slowly cranked I think my alternator is going out since my dipstick blew out and dipped oil all over my alternator,

I watched the video now that it finally loaded properly. It really looks like you have a powerdrain somewhere.

Have you tried jumping it off? Did you clean the terminals? Make sure that your connection to the starter is tight? Does your battery have enough cranking amps?

That doesn't tell us anything, you could have great batteries but if there is a bad connection the current won't make it to the starter.

could it be my distributor?
You don't have one. The CAS does part of what a distributor does. Even if you did, that wouldn't make it crank slow.

Low compression would make the engine easier to turn not harder. Pulling the spark plugs would eliminate compression so you could test if it's an issue.

Either something is binding or your starter isn't working right.

sorry i havent posted, school and work keeping me busy but thanks for the info will check all connections again. and ill take the starter back to autozone for a recheck.

Ok so i checked the compression yesterday and all where around ~150. Air, gas, fire and timing is what is needed for my car to start right? Well I have gas checked by taking fuel rail and putting injectors in mason jars. I have checked for spark at night and im getting deep blue or purple spark. And I have checked all my timing marcks and they are dead on. But I know my car is getting air becuase my data logger say my mafs is getting around 30 hertz but I hear a popping sound out of my exhaust when I try to start the car.

My timing advancement is -5° is this normal? My data logger is what states this. I havent checked with a timing light yet but will in a few minutes.

i resolved the issue by changing the order of the spark plug wires on the coil pack.

sure did but now i have other issues to contend with, like fuel pressure reading 45psi????? will post in other thread.
