During the last rain storm I had left work and was heading to my gf's house, on the way there my alternator, radiator, and e-brake light come on and the temperature starts to rise. I turn around and head home, it had idle surge x 10 but the temperature was staying normal. Let everything cool down and the next day I check things out. Oh no biggie the lower radiator hose popped off. Put it back on refill it with coolant. I then decide to give it an oil change, and upon completing it I realize my alternator and water pump belts are just hanging there. So I try and put them back on and notice my crank pulley has a lot of play, so much play that the actual pulley seperates from the block. What just happened and what do I need to fix it? I was going to take it to the dealership just to have new belts put in, but if this is going to involve some serious labor I'm going to do it myself. I have a few motor swaps under my belt and if this requires taking the motor out I will do it.

Common problem...just replace the pulley. The dealer sells the for roughly $100-$125. All that's involved is removing the belts (already hanging), and to remove the pulley (4 bolts on center piece), and then reinstall in reverse order.

Seriously though, labor will probably be the same price as the parts if not more. Spend that money on upgrades or the gf/wife.

Hey man u got lucky, when my 90 GST crankpulley went bad it made my timing belt throw. So needles to say I have a new head, valves, and all the other goodies I had to pay for to get fixed. So u got lucky man..

I recommend picking up an aftermarket aluminum crank pulley to replace the stocker. better performance and cheaper. i've had one for almost a year now and no problems.
