sooo today I was going over my car before I took the trans out to do the clutch, when I noticed I have a 3 inch crack in the case... can I weld it back together or would it be better to just get a new case? I've seen some people weld it back together but Im not sure.

Defidently just weld it. I would take the tranny to a shop that does aluminum welding and have them run some beads. TRE rewelded my cracked bellhousing and it turned out great. The reason it cracked was probably a misaligned transmission.. Make sure both your dowels are in place and you have all your bolts in

I also had a 2" crack on my belhousing, shep welded it for me when I had him build me my tranny!

I had a 4 inch hair crack in my mid section and Jon noticed it and welded it right up. He assured it would never be a problem. Nice welds too!!! This happened when my center diff spider gears shattered and acted like a grenade inside my trans.
