Cracked 14b Turbine Housing - Can It Be Saved?

As stated in the title. This is what I believe to be the original from my car. Came with it as an extra. Maybe two millimeters of side to side play, and one up and down. Seals are all still pretty good. Was dirty as hell though, figured I'd dig it out and see what can be done with it.

So now on to this half; what can be done with it? I don't even know if porting can eliminate the cracks. The ones near the wastegate don't look too promising either. The flapper isn't even centered over the hole, looks to be missing it by a good three millimeters when it's closed (from an angle, there is no gap when viewing straight on). Possibly from erosion.

Looks like someone also welded a hairline crack that was developing.

Beyond repair, which sounds less likely by the second, are there any other uses for this thing? You know, aside from paperweight, hurling device, toe-breaker...

You could port out the inlet provided those cracks don't extend outside the housing. Weld around the flapper to keep it shut and fill in the cracks. You can then utilize it for external wastegate use. I have one 7cm housing in the same condition as yours and that's what I plan on doing. Of course you could scrap it and save yourself the bother.

+1, or if you have the money to get a new turbine housing. I usually see them on ebay or I'm sure a few of the vendors here could help you out. My old 14b looked almost as bad and in my opinion was "beyond repair". I just replaced it with a monster 7cm housing and sold it to get a bigger turbo.
