crack in exhiast manifold

I. Have a decent sized crack on my manifold I was wondering if I should jjust weld it and call It a day. It's still spools up

Weld it if you can weld cast, but I would get a used 2g or Evo 3 manifold...

that's like a good Idea what are the benigits of a 2g manifold would that crack cause me to idle higher

You can weld cast just fine. I had a couple 1G and 2G manifolds over the years welded and they never cracked again. What do you think people who install HKS external wastegate on there OEM manifolds do? Glue?

Funny story. This kid brings me his 92 TSI one time to work on. Unrelated to why he brought it to me but it has a cracked manifold that he tried to repair himself.

No joke, JB Weld and black hi-temp grill paint. You know, like what you paint a BBQ grill with.

I guess I can't make too much fun of that though, I used JB Weld on the compressor side of a turbo once but it also doesn't get as hot as an exhaust manifold.

Im not going to lie, I used JB weld on a small crack, and it has been holding for over 8 months so far.

do not weld cast it will just crack again when it gets hot

If it's so used-up it's starting to crack, the iron probably won't have the integrity left to hold together. Taking iron up to red-hot over and over tends to irritate the molecules after a couple decades.
