Hey, I am wondering if there is any racing chips that can be thrown into the 2G DSM's. Also, how much HP do you think you would get out of a decent ehaust, and a AEM CAI? Do you think that it would be any noticable difference from stock? :talon:

No there are no "performance chips" for our cars. The only chip I can think of is the whole ECU unit from Howell. Everything else is pretty much BS.

As for an AEM (assuming cold air) intake and a decent cat-back exhaust, your gains will probably be around 10 whp if you're lucky. Its nothing noticable but if you are going that route, get an AF/X underdrive pulley as well, those work like wonders and you can actually feel the difference (pretty cheap too).

i honestly didnt notice a difference with my CAI and cat back... and header on top of that. but im not too sensitive to performance changes, only when they go down. but if your planning to go turbo down the road, i wouldnt waste the money on the NA mods that you cant use. i have a basement full of about $1000 worth of parts i cant use anymore or for a while. but def. get the af/x udp... its pretty sweet

hey chris maybe i can help you clean out that basement i need parts for a N/T what do you have :)

haha i responded to your PM. All of my parts are either not usable or are not for sale. i have an intake that is damaged and has a hole in it for nitrous, a header which is only the top part, i used the flex pipe for the turbo kit. i also have a nitrous kit which works fine but im not selling because i want to use it again down the road after i rebuild my bottom end

This is my very first car... I'm turning 15 in a couple weeks, so I don't have a lot of money yet. So I just want my car to be up to like at least 150+whp. I know its difficult to get to when you have a N/T dsm but I love my car. I am not sure if I'm going to throw a turbo in it for a while. I think when I want a turbo I will just sell this and buy a turbo AWD.

But anyways, so it sounds like I should definitely buy the AF/X UDP. And I am kinda curious... Would a bigger T/B, and a high-flow cat help out? Also I am thinking about suspension now. What would be the most affordable thing to do for suspension? I want to lower it a couple inches or so...

Thanks for the responses guys. Keep em' comin!

A bigger TB would help out. You can replace our tb (52mm I believe) with a Jeep tb (60mm, and can bore out to 62mm). They are both Chrysler engines so the Jeep tb will fit the 420a. If you're interested in doing that mod you may want to read up or do your own searches, search for Jeep throttle body:
Here
And Here

Also a high-flow cat will also help with a catback especially. Just make sure that you can still pass emissions where you live.

As far as suspension goes- I would get adjustable shocks and springs, not coilovers and NOT from ebay. You will get what you pay for so don't cop out on suspension.

 umm WTF yea  ok that's enough

he said he wants to stay n/a...so the jeep 60mm tb is way too big :toobad: I would go with the concept illusions ported 52mm or bored 55mm throttle body (they even powdercoat them for ya :thumb: )

as for the suspension...I got mine off ebay :nono: Tokico Advanced Handling Suspension Kit: 4 Illumina adjustable shocks and 4 lowering springs...best suspension ever!!!

:boring: I'm doin bein an a$$ I guess

Well from what I read, XMasta19, there are a few people who have the 60mm tb and love it. Besides I didn't tell him to go 60mm, I told him what was out there and that he should read up on the topic before he makes a decision based on his mods and what he plans of doing.

Also, I said do not buy suspension off of ebay and what I meant was don't buy those $40 coilovers. I said you get what you pay for, you bought a $500 suspension that is not 'ebay brand' which is why your suspension is quality.

I wouldnt say a 60mm is way too big. it all depends on what he wants. your going to sacrifice a lot of low end intake velocity which means low end power, but the top end would be much better. before i got this crazy turbo idea i was planning on a modern performance 60mm tb and porting and polishing my intake mani... oh yea make sure you port match the intake mani to the tb

If you are looking for 150whp and not willing to spend a lot of money(it will cost you a lot for a n/a setup) just get a shot of nitrous with an exhaust.

i knew i forgot something LOL. 150whp will not be cheap NA. a guy with a FULLY built motor, hi- comp, etc. dynoed 159 whp... good luck with that.

Really? I thought our cars came 140hp stock? Maybe I am stupid. Are we talking a big difference 140hp and 140whp?

yes sir...that 140hp at the crank might only dyno to 110whp :(

it varies from car to car of course, and depending on the mods...
BUT definitely does not come out to 140 at the wheels

Well that sucks!! So what do the GS-T models come out to with whp? What are the stock hp? 210 I think.

It's like that with almost every car. Just cause it says whatever amount of HP doesn't mean that's what it puts down to the pavement. It's nice to tell yourself in your head that you have as much HP as the dealer states though.

But what's a 2G turbo put at the wheels? Not 100% sure but something around 175 is my guess.

Well I guess you learn something everyday. I built minitrucks before this so Hp/speed was never a matter in my hobby. Then I bought an Eclipse. Want to make it fast(er). Now that I am learning there is alot to learn. And alot of disappointment too. :dsm:

I thought it was 167whp - For the cost of all the mods look in the tech article at chri's write up and do a custom turbo kit. :sneaky:

Yup, go from N/T to stage two (equivalent) for under $1000. You will need to know a welder though, but it's a thorough write-up. Click Here

Ans a side note- a stage two is slightly faster than a stock turbo DSM, correct my if I'm wrong here guys.

Here is another answer to your suspension question

I ordered eibach sportline for $237 shipped which was a 1.6 drop.

The shocks I baught were KYB GR2. I got mine from advance auto parts for $200 and change for the set of 4.

They are easy to install just need standard tools.

I am sure you could find a better deal on these parts but this is what I paid.

My car moves smoothly and grips the road 10x better than when I had stock springs/shocks (no bouncing around on the road either).

I hope this helps.
