Hi guys, its been a couple of weeks that Ive been pretty upset. 3 weeks ago I went to the track with a couple of friends and accordig to the weather it was going to be around 70 degrees. It all turns out it was 90. Anyway I was confident to hit 12s but on the top end my car would sortbof like loose power and choke like a sound wave up and down. Its be en professionally street tuned. My cars set up is ... Garrett 50 trim, turbonetics t3 manifold, turbosmart 38 wastegate, stock cams, 190 fuel pump rewired, dsmlink, fic 750,lc1 wideband, 3 inch exhaust straight. stock rebuilt head and 6 bolt block. greddy rs bov. When freshly tuned it pulled like hell. Idk what happen. This was on 91 pump and my fastest was 13.2 Yes I launched the hell out of my car and did well but this little check engine that happened to be tiny counts of knock screwed me up. I bought a methanol kit to solve this issue. I need to be in the 12s before I start the respiratory therapist program next month! Thanks

Step 1 will be to fill out your vehicle profile.

That knock was causing timing to be pulled which is why it felt like the car was becoming sluggish. You have to figure that out, meth injection definitely will help.

What's your definition of "professionally street tuned"? I've met a lot of so called tuners who aren't worth the grit that falls off the car while they tune it. Not saying that's your case. But there is a lot to consider when tuning, if you're knocking then I doubt it was tuned properly. Or, perhaps in another scenario something changed in between tuning and the track visit. What boost levels are you at? What is the tuning done with? Timing map?

There is also a lot more to a timeslip then your 1/4 ET. It would be helpful if you shared the rest of the info on the timeslip, specifically 60' time, 1/8th time and mph, and 1/4 mph.

Can you tell me more about this?
"but on the top end my car would sort of like loose power and choke like a sound wave up and down."
What do you mean? Does the exhaust note get louder/quieter? Does the engine rev up/down like a slipping clutch?

Idk how to explain but i will get a cel and the power will dramatically drop. Its like a "wave" sound. Knock maybe?

Sorry guys, just havent had time to log on here. But I will go ahead and do a pull and post it on here. Maybe you guys can pin point the problem.

As Shane already mentioned, take a couple seconds and post up what your best timeslip was (60', 660', and 1320' at a minimum).

Your knocking and is pulling timing. 4-5 degreesv of knock it seems

It is pulling timing! Im sure it is. Ummm Im having trouble in posting the log on here. I search through here and good. Im trying to figure out how to attach the log file.

my 60 was 1.806 660= 8.437 1000=11.082 and 1/4=13.292 R/T= .363 1/4 mph was 102.90 weather 87f

Nvm I got the hang of it. Here is my log.

That's not a little knock, that's a TON of knock. Your knocking all the way through 3rd and losing over half your timing advance up top.

I can tell you from experience that 91 octane sucks for making power; It's very knock happy. But I don't see anything in your tune that would explain that much knock. So I would suggest checking the knock sensor and replacing it if needed. Maybe even check the engine for actual knocking, such as a worn rod bearing or broken piston skirt.

Engine is freshly rebuilt with barely 5,000 miles or less. new rings and rod bearings. So my car is crap?

I have a 2g knock sensor maybe thatll help?

I wouldn't say the car is crap! LOL I'm just saying that you have a considerable amount of knock based on your tune, and you should explore all the possibilities.

Also forgot to mention your TPS isn't calibrated. Your only at 95% throttle the whole time. So use the TPS adjustment tool to get it back in line.

Oh ok phew.. LOL But really, I notice the throttle position. Hell here is a 3rd gear pull.

3rd gear pull. damn...

is there anything i can do to fix this?

I'm also concerned about the noise you're hearing. Knock doesn't make a surging type of noise. There might be something else going on. Can you describe the noise better? Or have a friend listen to it?

Well my tuner is working on my tune and seems like everything is going to work alright for aug 4th. just needs more adjustments.

Its not typically a noise. Its just like the car loosing power and then regaining it. Like if its reving back and forth from 6000-6500rpm on WOT

Something may be up with your maf.

You are getting a DTC code 12, indicating either the maf is disconnected, or something is wrong with it. Which makes little sense because it appears that it is working in the log.

Just something that I noticed.

Check your knock sensor for the sealant in the back...

I suspect this is a knock sensor picking up false knock.

man to me your tune don't look good your timing and fuel setting looks crazy to me

Oh jeez no wonder your loosing power op. No offense but this clearly shows your tuner sucks. If your spending money on this tuning you are getting ripped off bad. You need to take it to a professional or I can remote tine for you and there are a few others on here that can do remote tuning as well.
Whatever you choose you need to stop letting your current tuner tune your car. If he had any clue what he was doing he would not be touching those sliders.

Are you sure about that? If you don't touch those sliders on a 1g, you're going to be running 26* of timing up top, and pig rich.

Seems to me that if it pulled good after you had it tuned, and now it doesn't, then something is probably broken or clogged.

I forgot it's v2.5 I'm too used to v3 where you change the timing tables in DA tables.
