Cotter pin, which way?

I just finished my axle swap, and now the simplest thing is throwing me off. Which way does the cotter pin go back in? I've seen pictures of it two ways:

Method One:

I believe the original method used was Method One. If thats the case, I can bend one of the arms of the cotter pin over the nut, but where does the other arm go? Any opinions appreciated, I know both ways will work, just want the best way for our setup.

I personally always use method TWO. I dont think that it really matters though. As long as the cotter-pin cant fall out you are good.
 
i use method one and bend both arms over the top. as long as it doesnt fall out your fine.
