i remember a little while back about a thread of a guy who had problems starting his car sometimes. i have this problem and im damn sure its the fuel pump. i dont hear the fuel pump on when i turn the key and i understand now that its not supposed to.it turns on when started, correct? i have a walbro 255 rewired and its rewired the normal way most people do it. anyways, in this thread some wiseman said something about the way they are wired the pump wont kick on with the key-on positon. he suggested a certain rewire that was something like under the dash? i have searched vigorously but can remember the title of that thread. could some wisemen point me in the correct direction? thank you. -nick

Are ou talking about where he rewired a whole new fuze setup through the fuze panel under the drivers dash? I saw that somewhere also, but i did mine the "normal" way with a 190 and i've never had an issue. Maybe something is wrong with the wiring itself?

Elaborate the "sometimes"

Did you by chance rewire the Pump when you installed a new one? perhaps you forgot to put the 0 ring on the top of it. This has been known to cause start issues if the car has sat or a little bit.

I too have done the typical VFAQ rewire several times with no problem.
Perhaps your Relay is undependable

if you would have read my first post you should notice that i said i dont hear the pump coming on. and it was a wiseman that explained there is another way to wire your pump. larsya got it right. read the thread it is very helpful.

wats the point of it priming without it on? My car starts up, literally the second I turn the key. Although my starter makes grinding noise ### its going, it literally turns on the second its on.

The only time I wanted to prime it to make sure my afpr was set at the right pressure without turning on the car was to go to dsmlink, press the pump on switch and you dont even need to do anything else. Just make sure the vacuum line is off..

whats the point of priming it without starting the car? because my car doesnt start from that reason, i already explained that. my pump doesnt kick on and it wont start up. it does this whenever it wants. pretty annoying

You may have tore your o-ring so it needs a few to get going. Also, if you have a leak somewhere in the system or havent set it to the right pressure you may not get it going. You have a problem with getting it turned on? check ground, relay, power, i mean im sure youve already done that, but check with a multimeter.. Electronics are simple, if its not getting power its either, accessory, constant, or ground. Check power before and after the relay. The relay may be dead.

yea i know what your saying. i guess i need to find out why it wasnt on when i was crankin it over. i even turned it on with dsmlink and it wouldnt come on. i think something loose or relay sticking?

If you can't get it to turn on with DSMLink then there is definitely a loose connection somewhere. When you "turn the pump on" with Link, but the pump doesn't actually start, do you still hear the relay clicking on? I'd recommend checking the wiring with a multimeter to find the problem. Not the fastest solution to the problem, but what can you do? Good luck.

Is it possable your CAS is going bad, or has a loose connection. I know that when your turn your car over, if the ECU doesn't see the CAS signal, or if its just plain bad the fuel pump will not click on. Food for thought. :dsm:
