hey guys i have to start driving my talon after five years of it being parked. so the first thing i did was flush the radiator.then turned it on and took it for a spinaround the block. the temp gauge started out fine , after ten mins. driving it startede going up slowly and past half way almost to the first line. i do have .20 over pistons on it but i do think that should cause the heat to go up that much.. please let me know what you guys think.if any one in miami reads this and you are willing to help me out please call me 786 355 7128 mike.. thanks guys..:(

I'd check the oil cap, see if you have the weird off white paste forming on it. It's the stuff we call "ice cream", when the oil mixes with water/coolant and forms a thick film. Also check the plugs, oil, make sure nothing is blocking the intercooler/piping/radiator. Good luck man...

no ice cream, no leaks, some crusty white stuff in the thermostat housing and found some cool looking light brown jello inside thats why i flushed it.

"Brown jello," perhaps oil mixing with the coolant. Not trying to jump to any conclusions but that could certainly be a sign of a blown headgasket. How about any white smoke coming out your exhaust? Try smelling the exhuast fumes and if it smells like, "sweet," that would be another sign. Report back.

Do you have enough coolant in the system after the flush? Is the overflow full as well? Have you checked if your fans are kicking on? I would suspect the cooling system first (and the easy things) and once you rule that out move on to other possibilities. Good luck and keep us updated.

i really doubt it has a blown head. there is no signs of water in the oil , i changed it and it came out a healthy black color. im gonna change the thermostat and refill the water and coolant and try again..

If your talon has been sitting for a while, I'd suggest flushing the heater core as well. Or just bypass it beings you live in Miami, it could be your problem.

everything is "cool". new radiator and thermostat. problem solved. :thumb:
