i know people ask this all the time but i cant find some clear direction on installing. if you know a good thread let me know. i just cant seem to find the info that i need. i need to know some very good directions on how to put in two slimline fans and run them so they are both on when it hits the correct temp. ive heard so many differnt things so i just want to make sure that its going to go smoothly. these pics are the wires that are coming from the ecu (not the wires that go to the fan itself).

sorry i dont know how to get the pics up.

this is for a 97 gst
:confused:
Drivers side:

4 wires: black, blue w/black, 2 blue

Passenger side:

4 wires: white w/black, white w/blue, black, blue w/green

ill i need to know is:

1. how to wire them together each fan(what wire do i connect to my(black and blue wires from the fan))

2. do i need to run a seperate relay for each fan (they flow 1300cfm)

3. how do i wire them together to get them both on at the same time (using the ecu NOT remotely or by a switch).

if you want my pics of the wires let me know and i can email them to you. i just cant figure out how to post them.

any help would be very helpful.

thanks dan

subscribing b/c after reading other threads on this same subject matter I too would like to know a concrete and definitive answer. Just for my own knowledge.

The black and blue wires to the pass side fan is power and ground which is controlled by the fan switch. The driver fan is controlled by the ac.

The proper way to run the driver fan so it comes on with the pass fan is to get another relay and wire to it. The blue from the pass fan will need to be tapped and run to the activation of the relay. You will also run a fused + wire from the battery to the relay and a ground to the chassis. The forth wire on the relay will go to power of the fan and the ground from the fan will go to chassis ground. I hope this make sense. If not, pm me and I will try to explain it a little better.

i recently put the FAL fans in my 99gst. i read the same old threads that you guys did and this is what i cam up with...the Radiator fan has 3 speeds. they are
White/Black= low1

blue/green=low2

white/blue= Hi

black= ground

i wanted the fans to work like the stockers so i wired Low1 and Hi together with the positive of the fan and the 1 ground to the ground of my fan. this leaves the low2 wire disconnected. i haven't found any drawbacks to this.

the other fan has 2 hot wires for the 2 speeds and 2 grounds.
they are
blue=Lo
black=gnd
white/blue=HI
blue/black=gnd
i just put the 2 gnds together and the 2 hots together.

this is working for me. the fans are operating just like the stock ones would.

as for having both fans on at the same time i would just tie in the wires from the driver side into the connections for the passenger side. this would put them in parallel. so instead of one fan it would kick both on.

Feel free to correct me or add to this.
i had to figure this out the hard way. i guess fuses are cheaper than slimline fans!

This is exactly what I needed to hear/read, thanks!

I had read this post about a month ago, but it only discussed one of the two fans:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1490700&postcount=8

I already have done the fan rewire mod and can turn them both on whenever, but I want to swap the stockers out for some slimlines to make some more room and wanted to be positive as to how they were supposed to be wired in.

thanks again! :thumb:

A VFAQ or Tech article would be great for a 1g slimline fan wiring w/ pics.

I actually wanted to use my stock plugs so after doing all the wiring on the fan side, I could swap between stock fans and slimlines if I had to go back to stock ( I have an extra set of fans).

Anyone nice enough to come up with one? ;) :)
