Hello guys,

my a/c fan gave up so I replaced it in the meantime with a smaller fan I had laying around. However, this fan is small, seems to flow ok but definitely doesn't cover much surface area of the rad. Therefore my a/c performs great while on the highway since the front end has tons of air flow, but when idling or slow traffic you can really tell the difference.

So what I'm looking to do is replace the engine fan and the a/c fan with two high flow fans. Anybody got any recommendations on what fans to buy? What do you guys think about getting two more to add them to the front of the car on the other side of the rad/condenser to do push/pull? Thanks in advance for any advise.

I ran a pair of FAL slim fans that bolt directly to the OEM radiator and boy those things can move A TON of air. They're actually sitting in my storage with only a few weeks of use out of them, shoot me a PM if they'd be of interest to you.

yhpm :)

a set of $40 ebay slimfans works good too. usually ebay parts are junk but they've worked for me flawless and flow amazing.

I have the twin fal fans as well. And honestly, they are NOT as good as the stock fans. But, they are much slimmer. I live in the south, its hot as a mofo, and I have no heat shields. Might look to have one fan push and one pull.

That's what I'm probably going to do. Probably buy four fans and put them as push and pull.

I can't imagine 4 fans would work well.

I have a set of Flex-a-lite fans (1 unit, 2 fans). Along with my other cooling system mods, I rarely see over 180*.

Well getting four identical fans two for a/c and two for the engine in push and pull "should" work well. I build watercooled computers and it's kinda the same thing when you try different fan setups on the radiator.

If you have the rad with only one fan, then you add a 2nd fan to push or pull, it's just gonna flow more air across it. What do you think?

I think that push fans are not as efficient as I'm sure airflow from driving would flow across the radiator faster than they can move it.

As long as you properly setup your cooling system, 2 fans should suffice.

Hmmm that sounds very understandable. Something I did not think of when I tried to compare water cooled PC's to a cars coolant system. My PC doesn't travel a rates much faster than 0 MPH:hellyeah:

Staying with the same related topic. Anyone know what size of slim fan I can fit for the AC if I keep the stock engine fan and shroud? I would imagine it would be 10" or 12", of course I would like to fit a 12" fan for more surface area if possible.

I gotta measure the one I have on right now, the one I have right now is rather small so if its a 10" you know it can be a 12" etc. I'll see if I can measure it for you tomorrow.

One more here using the FAL dual slim fans. Very thin, significantly lighter than the stock fans and they move a lot of air. Subjectively they seem to be a good amount stronger than the stockers. I lived in Vegas for 4 years and never once had a problem with overheating on 110+ degree days. Although in fairness I never had overheating issues with the stock fans either.

The only thing I didn't like was the mounting because it's only secured at each corner. So the middle of the shroud on mine was bowed outward (back towards the motor) and not making a tight seal with the radiator. I cut some slots along the top and bottom edges of the shroud with the location corresponding to the mounting tabs located on the stock radiator. I used zip ties to secure it and pull the middle in and get a super tight seal. Now the fans don't cycle on as frequently and when they do turn on they run for a much shorter time.

Right now I run a single PUSH fan (A/C deleted) on a Mishimoto radiator on the passenger side and my coolant temps hover around 198* to 203* in traffic. I have it on 100% of the time using dsmlink but I have more amperage going elsewhere, like my FUEL PUMP if it needs it.

Again, those dual FAL fans push A TON of air and mine are already wired up to plug into the stock rad fan connector. :)

I run two pushers. An 8" for the A/C fan and a 10" for the Main. Currently have them both wired to the A/C switch, so at just a push of a button they both kick on.

It hasn't been real warm out here since i've messed with the fans and installed a lower temp thermostat, but I sit around 180 - 190 without the fans running at all.

Well I ended up getting the Mishimoto Shroud with fans. Great piece and can't beat it for the price. Today during the day it was about 95ºc and letting the sun hit the car all day when I got in it I must say at first you don't feel the a/c at all. But after like 5-7 minutes of city driving it was starting to get very pleasant in the car. once I get on the highway then it really kicks. I might get two more fans as pusher and see how that goes. I rode around without a bumper while I ordered and waited for the shroud. Let's just say my a/c never worked better LOL
