The CEL light went off and when i scanned it said coolant temp and that it was in open loop. So i changed the ECT sensor and the light came back on a little bit later.I have the proper fluid level. Should i try another sensor? The car is running at normal temp. I'm running out of ideas. Can anyone help?

Hmm check the housing inside and see if the thermostate or the inside is full of build up. I ahd a thermostate break for no reason, just was cracked. Does it come up to temp fast or slow? andwhere does the needle sit at idle and while cruising?

Hmm and the CEL is still coming and going? just check the connection of the sensors and I would keep my eye on it and see if it comes back. If you are not loosing coolant and the needle is in the middle then I have no clue. Hmm... If I come across anything new I will post in here.

and where does the needle sit at idle and while cruising?

The needle is there strictly for driver enjoyment. It is in NO means accurate.

Look at a logger value instead.

Test the sensor for short to ground if the value doesn't change.
