coolant shooting out of water neck

i have approx 260 miles on my 6 bolt/2g head swap. the coolant line running from my water pipe to the ofh caught on fire today because it had oil on it.. well i replaced the wire.. checked the wiring around it and replaced the coolant. i kept the cap off of the water neck so i can start the car and let some air out of the system and while i cranked it the coolant shot out of the neck. a buddy of mine told me i could have a cracked head... what could it be?

It could be a cracked head. Basically that would mean you are letting compression into the cooling system. I have also seen bad water pumps do that every now and again. Rare but have seen it.
