Ok, so i keep losing coolant through the reservoir and im not sure why... There is a small white cap on the coolant reservoir that has 1 hose that comes from the water neck, and 1 hose that looks like a drain, every time my car gets to running temperature it starts dumping coolant out of the drain..? but when the system cools back down it wont pull any from the reservoir witch always fills up untill it starts to drain. then im about 20oz low on coolant every time i run the car. Is there some kind of valve in that cap thats plugged or something?

i can tell u two things. first replace the radiator cap, maybe its no sealing and its letting water pressure go to the reservoir and if that doesn't fix it do a compression test to see if any cylinder its leaking gas pression into the cooling system and if that's the case ## headgasket its done and would need to be replaced

There is air in the system. You mentioned two hoses running from the reservoir cap, there should be a third hose running to the inside of the bottle. Silly question, but is this in place? If not, get one immediately, as this will cause all your problems.

What I would do is fill the reservoir to the correct level and completely fill the rest of the system -- fill it to about the inner lip for the cap. Run the car with the radiator cap off to normal operating temperature, trying to keep the level topped off. I place a short spouted funnel that fits tightly (with the help of rubber hose, if needed) in the thermostat housing while still allowing liquid flow. Let the car cool down and check your coolant level at the thermostat housing; refill as necessary. Repeat until no more coolant can be added to the system. Reinstall cap and go. If, when you start the car with the cap off, the coolant shoots out a good amount, it is likely the headgasket is blown. You can perform a compression test to confirm.

You might also pressure test your radiator cap to ensure it is sealing properly. Check for leaks or split hoses (like in the third hose mentioned above). There is no valve in the reservoir cap, it is a straight through connection.

Yes the third hose inside the bottle is still there, but i will try what 19eclipse90 said and see what happens :/ i hope my HG isnt blown damnit..

My coolant resovoir is missing that white cap and the other hose that goes down to the ground is this bad? all i have is a hose going from the the radiator cap to inside the bottle.

It will still function like it should. If you overflow and don't have the cap n hose it could make a mess everywhere.

This is absolutely correct. As long as the end of the hose going into the bottle is submerged in coolant, it should function exactly the same as the original system.
