coolant problem?

I have a 92 gsx with alot of work done. But i can't figure out why i keep leaking antifreeze out the overflow tank. I have a brand new fluidine rad. and a new water pump,and a new thermostat. But as soon as i start the car it starts leaking out the overflow tank. any one have any ideas?

Are you overheating at all?
Might be as simple as air in the cooling system - take the cap off and give the upper hose a good squeeze to let out trapped air.
I would hesitate to say the rad cap is bad *unless* you have noticed coolant loss or steam from the cap/thermo housing area. Might want to get it pressure tested just in case, if all else fails.

the cap might be bad.i did let it run for about 10 min with the cap off to try and get the air out.but it is still doing it.

have you seen any white smoke coming out of the exhust at all?

the car has not overheated, the temp has goten up to about 210 but then i shut it off.

not realy but it is coold out. when the car is worm i dont see any.

i would do a leak test i had a lot of these problems with my car turns out it was hose clamps can you see it drop when the cap is off

Well, if you are blowing coolant into the overflow upon startup and you have to shut it off to keep it from overheating? I would do a compression test to check for any abberations in your head or head gasket. Either one will pressurize your coolant system and after your radiator caps capacity has been exceeded, it will vent to the overflow. This combined with overheating as the compression will also dam the water flow in the head and you have a situation that can only be resolved by the head coming off and having it completely tested.

I had a similar problem with my '90 GS-T. After the car ran for a while, the overflow tank would spew out radiator fluid. It happened only a few times, but when coolent is spilling out at an alarming rate, it should be taken seriously. I took the cap off and bled the radiator, trying to get all the air out, and it hasn't happened since.

Is it flowing back or is it bubbling? If it's bubbling, that's a sure sign that you have a blown headgasket. If that's the case and you aren't to handy, you can take it to a shop and have them do a hydrocarbon test. Cost is about $60. If there are any hydrocarbons, then you have a blown headgasket.

Yeah, I had a similar problem w/ my 91 GST, as well. That's kind of what led me to think that his problem might be related to air in the cooling system. After I replaced every inexpensive part of the cooling system and it was still spewing from the overflow, I decided as a last resort to try one of those "radiator flush" solutions....Whatever the problem was, that fixed it!

It starts to leak as soon as I start the car. the car only has about 150 miles on it. i just finshed puting it together. It was running good, then the stock rad blew. so i put the Fluidyne rad in. that is when it started out the overflow.
