coolant leaked and wierd syptoms

ok guys my car is a 92 TSI AWD...I was doing like 55 mph on the highway, when I noticed the check engine light on. I pulled over immediately, and was steaming profusely from the radiator cap...I let it cool down for about 25 min....i had a bit of water left in some water bottles so I put that in. the car was pretty hard to start, and I noticed that there was no vacuum when I was cranking the car. well long story short, I got the car cranked, went to a gas sation. bought new coolant, filled up an extra bottle and drove the remaining 30 miles to my destination. I got here, and there was a bit of steam, so I shut it off and walked back to the hood and the steam was gone. anybody have any tips or any1 in the area of milwaukee or chicago? maybe racine?

You'll want to do a leak down test to see if the HG is blown. Did you notice any smoke from the tail?

i have no idea... id grab some yellow pages and start calling around... some places will perform it for free and scan for codes etc.... it really depends on where you live...

do a compression test as well, might find out with the quickness that was and you can rent a tester from auto zone without charge after you return it. but definitely +1 on the leak down test.
