Coolant Leak on Front of Block

Alright i have a 98 gs 167,000 :( poor thing, but i have antifreeze on the front of the block so i thought that the hg went so i checked compression and have 120 across the board, i am loosing coolant also what to check next?
 
To add on to what Paul said: where is it leaking?? Is there a mix of oil in the coolant?? (If not proceed to next steps)..... 120 is a bit low as far as stock compression, should be 170-210. Also, what kind of vacuum are you reading? Are your coolant hoses in good shape? Is your coolant cap holding pressure/leaking? Is your overflow tube in good shape? A brief visual would help us all. If you cant tell right away leave the car running on some jackstands and watch for the leak.
 
im not positive where its leaking from its under the headers and there is what i think to be oil in the coolant but not coolant in the oil also i did the compression test with the throttle plate closed
 
Is it more on the power stearing pump side or the tranny side?

I have a small leak as well and its coming out of where the hard coolant pipe that runs along the block mates up with the water pump (dont quote me on that its the water pump). The tube is plastic I believe and has a big rubber O ring as the only sealer for it to the water pump, and I believe that is why mine is leaking. I think it got tweaked when I swapped in a new 14b.

Well since your dealing with a GS I dont know if the setup is similar.

yea its on the opposite side of the tranny but the 420a is a completely different motor

We have very specific rules about 4G63 owners posting in the 420A forum. If you do not have a 420A, or if you do not know anything about them, please do not post here.
 
LOL check your coolant lines brotha...check those 2 that run right overtop of the headers ( heater core supply and return) Check if the t-neck is leaking, rad. cap leaking, Main radiator hose, check for leaks!!.
Whens the coolant been changed? Its probably not oil in the coolant, its probably nasty coolant thats all sludgy. check your overflow bin to see if its cracked, after you drive long periods of time, do you hear and hissing or boiling in your overflow bin?!? or hissing anywhere. 120 is low, thats like the lowest i would ever drive at before id do a HG and new sot of rings man. My GS has 180,000 miles, but who cares about miles when every thing on the car is built and the body has no rust?!? I dont care :p
 
im going to check all the lines again then do another comp. test, coolant was just redone about 4 months ago. No hissing or anything, and i know every one cares about high miles but my car is still running perfect just this stupid coolant thing, and same here my cars body is in amazing condition just could use a little paint touch up.
 
ok re-did comp and im getting 180 across the board, fixed my coolant problem it was a crack in the pump, no to fix my rear main seal :p
