I blew a coolant leak yesterday and I tracked it down to the hard water pipe that goes from the oil filter housing to the upper radiator hose area. I think that a bolt wore a hole in the hard pipe because it is bone dry an inch above that spot. Would it be safe to try and use Stop-Leak and is this safe for the turbo? I'm not sure just how bad this leak is but the car did overheat pretty quickly. If I do need to replace this line where could I get it from besides a parts car? Anyone have one btw? thanks for the help

You shut the car off when the temp started to climb right? If it's a hole the size of a bolt stop leak won't work. You're best bet is to replace the line. For a quick fix use some duct tape. And by quick fix I mean duct tape it, drive it to where you need to go and replace the line.

Dealership will have the line, or stop in at your local autoparts store and ask them. If you're running a stock turbo yes, no coolant can damage your turbo.

But you shouldn't have worn a hole in a hard pipe unless something else is hooked up incorrectly.

The hole wasnt a size of a bolt but the line was resting against a bolt and that is as far as I could trace the leak. I just put some stop leak in it and it is holding for now and it allowed me to get home, I'm going to strip it all down and check it out anyway just to be safe, I'm replacing the turbo anyway so it will be just right there.

If you can't visually find the leak, pressurize the cooling system and then look under there. You should see it running down the pipe.

If you find that it's the hard pipe, don't forget to buy the silver dollar sized O-rings for it also. I wouldn't try to reuse the old ones.

Once fixed, flush the entire cooling system to get that stop leak, scale and anything else out of there.

Good luck
