dry ice would do the trick indefinatly..
ive always thought about a ice pack to wrap around the uicp that you can take off, velcro, and put in the freezer when your done..like a ice pack for your arm or leg..but something with dry ice would be very effective..:)

You guys need to be careful here. Creating any kind of cooling device in the upper intercooler pipe is a difficult proposition, ESPECIALLY if it is an attempt to cool the charge air by cooling the outside perimeter of the IC pipe. When there is a flow through a pipe like that, the outer air molecules roll off the main flow and become stagnant, due to the friction of the pipe. This creates an insulating effect, called the "boundry layer." Even if you cool the pipe, you may slightly cool this boundry layer, but there will be very little heat transfer from the hottest air in the middle of the pipe.

Also, keep in mind that heat transfer depends on several things, such as surface area, and the difference between the temperatures of the two materials. With ice or water, the delta T is quite low, and as such transfer of heat is minimized.

I have seen a system that uses the flash-boiling of liquid CO2 withing an aerodynamic "wing" inside the IC pipe to cool the charge air. This is one of the best methods of this, and still is not great. It will only col the air about 5-10 degrees farenheight.

Water injection is a more effective, but also more difficult to design, way to do this.
