I just replaced my turbo from jusmx141 on here put everything back together and finally got the bumper on last night! Took it out just for a drive to see if everything worked, which it did. Well today it rained and still is (my car stayed in the garage overnight). I drove it for about 30 minutes, got some gas then parked for about 5 minutes. Again started it back up, then drove it to a friends house about 2 miles down the road. Everything was fine so I parked the car in his driveway (its still raining) and let it sit while I went inside. About half an hour later I came out and started it, reversed it put it into first with no problems then came to a stop sign (still in first, never shifted to second and was at most around 3k rpm). After turning left I got up to about 3k-3.5k and shifted to second it then started to sputter and started to die on me while giving it gas kept it alive enough while it was sputtering and trying to die but I basically had no power. So I parked the car closest place I could and after that let it sit for about 5 minutes. Started back up and at idle the rpms were bouncing between 200-1000 crazy.

The problems I encountered while getting it home was

1. It wouldnt go fast enough to get into second
2. it wanted to die if there was not constant acceleration
3. a lot of black smoke out of the exhaust
4.No low power
5. car would bog/just stutter/jerk at the lower power
6 no CEL

Please help me I got this car a month ago and have only driven it twice for a total of an hour if that. Nothing but problem after problem, but hey without the help of you guys I would never get them fixed :)

Thanks in advance

Somewhere you've got your vac hoses routed improperly. Not sure if you are, but make sure you're not using cheap colored hoses for vac reference. They like to collapse. Also do a boost leak test.

Give everything a good once over... Make sure the MAF is plugged in, check for loose couplers or hose clamps, do a boost leak test and go from there.

What are you using for tuning???

spark plugs? seems like your running rich...!!!
Yes, def running rich. Ill check them but I dont see how that could really being the problem (not sounding like an ass)

Definitely will check and will do the boost leak

Ill definetly have to do that, need to let the engine cool and pull it into the garage

And nothing, but im guessing ill probably need something

did you prime the turbo when you replaced it?

yes turbo seems to run fine its been boosted and everything, but ill have to check once the car cools down.

my boost gauge was also acting crazy and fluctuating just like my rpm gauge was, and it was mostly on the vacum side

first piggyback tuner i installed was a greddy e-manage, i had the settings wrong and the ECU wasn’t getting a signal from the e-manage... my car did the exact same thing your car did, sounds like your ECU isn’t getting a signal from the MAF sensor anymore. could be bad sensor, bad wire, loose connector...

^^Agreed. I left my MAS unplugged when installing a new pipe and it did the same thing :nono:

Could also be a vac line though from my experience. Your just going to have to check all lines. More than likely you'll find a boost leak or two while you're in there.

Sounds like a coupler popped off to me. Thats what I would check first. Do visual of the intake sytem. Then do a boost leak if you can't find anything.

damn thank you all for the quick advice! im going to let the car warm down still and then pull her in the garage.. I know these are def not the worst experiences people have had. But its just aggravating finding 1 after another and I havent even drove the car. If the stupid ass last owner took care of it, there wouldnt be a problem.. At least the person I sell it to will have had the previous owner actually CARE for the car and take time and replace and fix what is needed..

Ill be reporting back/updating but if anyone else has comments please post!

Thanks again

I second the

popped coupler
maf unplugged

Sounds exactly like what happened to me when I still had my soft pipes from my T25 to my VSRF FMIC until I grabbed my 14b and could use hard pipes.

Any boost at all and the soft pipe would blow right off the hard pipe and die unless I gave it gas.

Good luck I want to hear the outcome

I made a boost leak tester today for less than $10. Ifyou need one just check VFAQ forum in the Turbo Intercooler section. Saves time and money. Win, win situation. Hope you get it running to it's potential.
