Has anybody ever done this? I just bought an aftermarket power steering cooler (like this one) in preparation for my upcoming FMIC install and was noticing today how similar it looks to the stock tranny cooler. Could I maybe just take the stock tranny cooler and mount it behind the driver's side fender somehow and use that for a PS cooler? And I'll finally be installing my aftermarket tranny cooler in the old SMIC location when I do the FMIC.

No, not really, especially when it'll be covered up by a FMIC. A common A/T upgrade is a bigger external tranny cooler-- the one I got is a B&M SuperCooler that's about 8"x11".

From what I've read, most 2Ga's had a tranny cooler integrated into the radiator somehow, but most 2Gb's have a little brick-sized cooler in the upper right hand corner of the bumper opening-- that's what I have. In preparation for my FMIC install I was going to remove the PS coil and replace it with this little finned coil I just purchased, and put the B&M cooler in at the same time as the FMIC install. But if the stock cooler will work as the PS cooler, I can just resell the one I just bought. I'll have to take a closer look at the hard lines going into the cooler to see if they can be modified to fit in the same place as the one in the Tech Article I linked to above.
