my top is in good condition but the treads along the top are coming out and it looks kinda trashy when the top is up..has anybody had this problem and fixed it themselves rather than take it to a repair shop and have them do it? i think a heavy duty needle and some same color thread will do it but just seein if anybody has any tips or know how to do it and it look nice afterwards..

Never known anyone to do it, just replace it, take to a shop could get costly. My friends spyder has tears in it, its getting worse. Doesnt look like fun to sew it up.

yea i know it doesnt look fun at all and leaks do suck..but its only like 8 to 10 inches of the material that is comin unsewn..the top color and condition overall is good jus the side parts are coming slightly unsewn

If you are going to sew or patch it up, try and do it from the bottom. It will propbably be only aparent to you unless right on top of it. If I were looking at the same problem, I'd start saving up for a new top. They are not cheap, but worth the money to repair.
