ok heres the scoop i went to the dealership to get my ball joint recall done cause i heard a noise comming from the front right wheel. clunking and some play in the wheel and there telling me my control arms are bad and there 400 each how can a controll arm be bad is it most lkey the bushing he said the inner was worn and its dangerous to drive
 
Unless the actual control arm is compromised I don't see why you couldn't put in new bushings and ball joints. If it's just a bushing as the guy said, you don't need a whole new control arm. Just buy new bushings and have a shop press them in.
 
as for ball joints don't let them tell you that you need to buy the whole control arm. look at the VFAQ for info on this.
 
Check your balljoints for yourself. Jack the front of the car up and use a pry bar to try to seperate the control arm with the ball joint from the knuckle. You're looking for movement in the ball joint vertically. What they are saying is your bushing is collapsed or worn. If theres a recall out for balljoints I do believe by law they must change what is stated in the recall unless the car has already had the recall preformed. Its a safety issue.
 
One of my control arms was pretty rusted out and pitted inside the rear bushing. It had a pretty good amount of play inside the bushing... probably at least 3/16" maybe 1/4". It is possible that is your problem, but I would get a used one from a junkyard before I paid $400. If it is your balljoints they are fairly easy if you have a bench vise and large sockets:thumb:
